Travel Experience at Malapascua Island via Kalanggaman Island…
During my visit our group had primary destination at Kalanggaman Island in Palompon, Leyte and yet it was an unforgettable experience overnight stay. As a side note, Kalanggaman is a bird-like shaped virgin island with two-long pure white sandbars and a must visit Island, about 2hours away from Malapascua. Actually, a friend of ours initiated the idea and chose to celebrate her 26th birthday in that secluded island.
As a matter of fact, not anyone of us is expecting that will be invading into other island sources which is at northern tip of Cebu after our joyous stay at Kalanggaman. In as much as our guides (boatmen) wanted our group to enjoy our island trip since we invaded that time at Calanggaman with inclement weather — so they gave us this beholden side trip by sailing to one of best island vacations of Cebu through the Malapascua Island.
In exchange of their offer, we paid an additional of 800.00Php on top of prior arranged pumpboat cost which is Php 6,000.00 for gasoline purpose, said that it could be enough to navigate us all through Malapascua Island. And indeed it was worth all the journey and by owing the idea to our guides as their birthday presence yet in return of the favor to the celebrant.
If your group wishes to sail away into Kalanggaman Island, Palompon, Leyte, that is about 1.5 – 2 hours away from Malapascua Island, Cebu. But you know what, while the pump boat is sailing across the shallow ocean heading to Malapascua, we were amazed because we saw dolphins for our very first time in front of our naked eyes. The dolphins were likely showing off their impressive skills arrogantly to us. Then we learned that dolphins are likely to enjoy when people are applauding at them.

Due to it’s reef’s sanctuary in which Malapascua enriched in number of foreign citizens around the island. You will notice them staying outdoor and prefers sunbathing (while locals can’t afford the heat of the sun), whilst some seated at their beach chair reading books/novels. There’s situation wherein Filipinos are much skin sensible with regards to exhibiting our body, but to no extent we’ve witnessed foreigners wearing topless at the beach front laying on the sandbar which most definitely not appropriate to locals but for them it’s just normal. The boatmen were teasing at those citizens but according to them it was unlikely before wherein some foreigners were not sensitive of wearing bikinis off at the beach.
